How to Set Custom Client Properties and Create Client Lists

In this video, we will walk you through setting custom client properties as well as creating custom client lists.


Overview

This guide walks you through how to create and manage Custom Properties inside the Clients Dashboard. Custom properties let you track unique client details, segment your customer base, and build targeted contact lists for email blasts, newsletters, promotions, and more.

Accessing Custom Properties

  1. Open the Clients Dashboard from your left-hand menu.

  2. Select any client from your list.

  3. Inside the client profile, look for the Custom Properties section.

Here you can:

  • View existing properties

  • Edit current properties

  • Add completely new custom fields


Why Use Custom Properties?

Custom properties are especially helpful if you offer multiple trip types, locations, or packages. For example:

  • Multiple trips types/different listings

  • Lodging packages

  • Trips in various locations

  • Corporate groups

  • VIP or repeat customers

By tagging clients with these attributes, you can easily segment your list later.


Editing an Existing Property

  1. Inside a client profile, locate the Custom Properties panel.

  2. Choose a predefined property (for example: Corporate Client, Lodging Client, etc.).

  3. Set the appropriate value (Yes/No, number, text, etc.).

Example:
Marking a client as Corporate Client → Yes.


Creating a New Custom Property

You can create new client attributes tailored to your business needs.

  1. Click Custom Properties inside any client profile.

  2. Select Add New Property.

  3. Name your property (e.g., "Inshore Client", "Birthday", "VIP Tier", etc.).

  4. Choose your field type:

    • Text (open-ended label)

    • Number (e.g., total bookings)

    • Date (perfect for birthdays, anniversary trips, etc.)

    • Yes/No (quick tags for segmentation)

Example:

Creating a "Birthday" property

  1. Choose Date as the field type

  2. Name it Birthday

  3. Save

  4. Return to the client view and enter the date of birth

This allows you to send birthday reminders or targeted promotions.


Using Custom Properties to Segment Clients

Once your clients are tagged with useful attributes, you can create custom Lists for communication.

  1. From the Clients Dashboard, go to the Lists section.

  2. Click Create New List.

  3. Name your list (e.g., Corporate Client List).

  4. Add conditions based on your custom properties.

Example: Create a Corporate Client List

  • Condition 1: Corporate Client = Yes

  • Optional Condition 2: Add additional filters such as:

    • Waterfowl Hunt Client = Yes

    • Lodging Client = Yes

This allows you to get extremely specific with your outreach.

  1. Click Create List.

You will now see a segmented list of all matching clients.


Reviewing & Editing Your Lists

  • Once a list is created, click on it to see all clients included.

  • You can add, remove, or modify conditions at any time.

  • Lists update instantly based on your property tags.
